SHOULD THE PEOPLE LIVING IN CONGO/DARFUR PRAY FOR A NATURAL DISASTER??

Hey all. How school dey go for una? Anyways enough of the pleasantries lol and on to what has been bothering me.This Haitian thing has been on my mind especially the other night when Mr Larry King had all them celebrities like Jlo, diddy, Ben stiller etc on his show. They were all there raising money for the Haitian victims. That's all good and all but it got me thinking sha, the
Monday before the Tuesday of the earthquake everybody and their mama knew that Haiti was an improverished nation abi? Did many people donate as they are donatin now? There were 10000 humanitarian aid agencies in Haiti before the earthquake. So what should the people living in Darfur and Congo etc do? They should all start praying for their own natural disaster. Because that is the formula now abi?The world will only come to your rescue if a natural disaster nearly wipes out every thing in your city. Why did it exactly have to take the death of 100k ppl before most ppl paid attention? Please anybody from Congo and darfur should start praying for natural disaster. I know somepeople will die from the natural disaster but sacrifices have to be made abi? The situation is not getting any better.

On to another point, I was glad to see my fellow Nigerians donating to the Haiti people. But I did not fail to realise that we were all willing to donate to Haiti but when it comes to donating to our humanitarian crisis in the North or any other part of Nigeria. Some of us will start to enquire whether we are donating to the Hausas? Or to the Igbos? To the christians? or to the Muslims? Why is that? Please as we are donating to Haiti let us remember the forgotten people in our own country as well.

I was watching south park last night and mehn those baggars are hella funny. They had an episode talking about whether handicapped people go to hell. Because the bible says that before one goes to heaven one
must confess their sins lol. Eric cartman a character in the show asked how ppl who can't will go to heaven if they can't confess their sins? Lwkmd when I heard that. On the issue of Holy Communion lol they
made jokes about that also, so it reminded me when I was in Faith Academy in Canaanland in Naija. Lol they gave us biscuit as the body of Christ and they gave us Apple La Casera as the blood of Christ. Thinking about it now I wonder why I never questioned it, seeing as anything can be used to represent the body/blood of Christ. Maybe I can eat dodo/chicken and have that represent the body of Christ and have my sweet orange juice represent the blood of Christ, is that not possible?

Sometimes ppl accuse other ppl of seekin Attention? And me I come dey wonder,na who no like attention? We all seek attention in some form or the other.Wen women do their hair they seek attention in the form of compliments.Wen u perform well @ work u seek attention in the form of promotion.Wen u buy a Lexus insted of a tokunbo u seek attention/ recognition 4rm ur friends no be so?

Mlk quote"A man who won't die for something is not fit 2 live".I struggled with this quote because I was wondering what if the something that is worth dying for is also worth killin for?Are there no good causes that
are worth killin for as well as dying for? Consider the Islamic extremists/terrorists, most of them are willing to die for whatever cause they are fighting for, but they also feel that that cause is worth killing for as well. And there have been times in history where killing innocent people was seen as worthy enough because the cause was that important.

if the same earthquake that hit Haiti hit Vancouver, Canada, it would not have caused any damage unliek what it has in Haiti.

The damage was due to shanty towns, builds that lack good infrastructure etc. So i feel that what the Haitans need is professionals ege engineers, architects who will help them in reconstructing better buildings for the future and not just money that will go to rebuilding the shanty towns again...and im scared that is what will happen..

As for Nigeria, I feel people are hesitant when it comes to donating back home because they might not trust the organisations use of their money. It all balls down to massive corruption that migrated from our government to the actual people and soil of the land. Corruption is everywhere but Nigeria is on a different level. There are young people out there trying to make a change so if you know anyone with a trustworhty organistaion. yes please don't only donate but also give up your time to help into rebuilding our country from its roots. That's where the change need to be made. In the minds of our people.

i think MLK meant to say would you die for anything..like is there something in your life that you have so much passion for..the thing that makes you wake up every morning. the thing that keeps you going in times of distress when all doors seem to be closing in on you. the one thing that is the purpose of your life. having that one thing gives you a reason to live; you earn the right to live in a way.

sorry for the blab I don't think Ive ever written this much in a comment before.

Azazel said...

Lol no probs bonnie..U did not blab @ all.
But tell me though, it says ' a man who won't die for something does not deserve to live'. But then the islamic terrorists are also willing to die for something as well.. They have a 'purpose' in their life lol.
And I feel u about the trust thing among Nigerians back home, but it doesn't not make sense..
Because when u donate to charities, u trust that some of the money u donate will egt to it's destination..
so the trust back home and the trust overseas should be the same thing in my opinion lol.

Lady X said...

Like I've told you before Azazel it's not only charities back home I don't trust. People have been singing that they donated this and that amount to Africa since before I was born. You'd think that Africa would be so RICH and all the poverty problems would've been solved by now. Where did all the money go? I'm not against giving to charities but I'd rather find a poor person myself and give them money, food or whatever it is I want to give them. And I'm very sure some of that money supposed to be going to Haiti is being pocketed.

i was thinking the same thing about the haiti pple too.

Yes, the USA alone sent over 2 billion dollars to Haiti between 1990 and 2009 (before the earthquake). The PROBLEM with sending aid to Haiti, is that the government there is one of the most corrupt in the world. So, even when people sent help, there was no guarantee that it was being used properly.

"everybody and their mama knew that Haiti was an improverished nation abi?"
Not true.

"I was glad to see my fellow Nigerians donating to the Haiti people"
I will say now that I actually did not donate any aid at all to Haiti, and will not be donating to Nigeria either.

"when I was in Faith Academy in Canaanland in Naija. Lol they gave us biscuit as the body of Christ and they gave us Apple La Casera as the blood of Christ."
This is what I really hate. When other branches of religion pick up catholic tradition and then bastardize it. I hope to God that they explained to you why they were giving it to you? Did they make you take catechism first? Make sure you understood why you were eating it? Did they make sure? I dont understand protestants sometimes. They run away from the Catholic church because it is not "prayerful" enough for them and then turn around and do the exact same thing. What kind of rubbish is that? Do they think catholics take holy communion during mass because they are hungry?

EDJ said...

Above, I meant to say other branches of Christianity.

Btw @ Bonnie, you are right, but WHO is going to leave their cushy engineering job to go to Haiti and rebuild? Not someone like me that is for sure.

I think Haiti should abandon Port-au-Prince and find another city to make the capital and they should start from scratch. Of course seeing as how the country sits in the middle of an active tectonic area they might want to consider stronger buildings next time.

well, im anglican and we eat bread and wine which represents the blood of Jesus...it only represents it doesnt mean that it actually is the blood of Jesus.even in the bible during the last summer, they didnt actually drink the blood of Jesus..Jesus broke the break and said let this represents the body inwhich i give you and drank wine and said let this represent my blood which ill give to you.
i read a blog where the person talked about the haiti people, she said for some reason she hasnt donated cos she just isnt feeling them.lmao.it was funny sha.

Azazel said...

Exactly Lady X..
Exactly, I believe in just finding poor people around u and knowing that your actually giving to people that you can see from in real life.
Lmao EDJ so u did not know that Haiti was impoverished??? How will u know? When ur to busy shoppin for gucci bags and louis vuitton lol. jk
But umm about the other branches stealin from teh catholic church..
Oh please who cares abou catechism???
Ppl see free bread and wine and they want to partake of it..
In this one church I use to go to in the states, they use to give bread and wine lol as holy communion.
No Port Au Prince can be rebuilt, they just need to hire engineers and pay them well nah..
Lmao Leggy the person actually said that?? Lmao hahaha how the hell isn't she feeling them? Or is their suffering not legit enough? Gosh someppl can be so daft lol.

If I am absolutely sure of where my NGO money is being spent, I will donate to Naija causes. I just have a sneaky feeling about NGO coordinators who drive expensive cars while I hustle in my 14 year old car.

Myne said...

I believe giving is personal and should not be forced or hypocritical. That said, the people of Haiti need every help they can get right now.

u went to Faith Acad? no wonder ur all anti-God now. lol.

its a sad thing but its human nature that it often takes a tragedy to trigger compassion in most of us. sometimes ppl want to help, but u look around the world and its like where do i start from? U dont have to go to Haiti or Congo to see real suffering, sometimes it exists even in the so called developed countries.

I would hope that Nigerians will rise above tribal lines if a different region suffers a natural disaster and loss of lives as that witnessed in Haiti.
The Niger delta is a perfect example of how nigerians have failed to support their fellow citiizens. There was/is a real humanitarian crisis and violation of the inhabitants of the ND's basic human rights. But for the insurgents, shell and co will still be reigning supreme (and to a certain degree still do)

I don't think an extremist who is willing to kill en masse, is dying for a cause, even if he is blowing himself up as well - It is a cowardly act which is comparable to those who commit suicide.
Martin luther King's quote I believe is referring to do those who dedicate their lives to fight for liberty, equality, defending human rights etc Some them die/killed in the process (MLK, Ghandi) some escape death (Mandela).
But none of them go/went on a suicide mission to drive home their point - that is cowardice and, as a result they desrve to die because they had a death wish. But for those of us who just exist without doing our own little bit for the betterment of society (eg our leaders in nigeria), life is pointless hence the reason why they don't deserve to live - this is my take on MLK's quote.

One more thing, i believe that the drinking of christ's blood and the eating of his flesh symbolises nothing else but the promotion of cannibalism...

I have proudly never indulged in such occultic activities. It sounds like some form of initiation into christianhood!

Azazel said...

Lol Neo I never said I went to faith acad lol and btw wars wrong with Faith Acad? Lol

Lily fine girl like u driving 14 year old car? Somebody should do charity for u lol jk. Myne ur on point as always. anonymous lolmao @ canibal comment u made lol.

lol azazel mayb the thing wrong with faith academy is the same reason that marriage is the quickest way to kill "true" love. you're supposed to be "faithful and true" regardless of what ur mind tells u bcos ur suppsed to b "loyal" to some institution. truth is, it never works.
about giving to NGOs in Nigeria and haiti, best thing is to research the organisation and find real evidence that they do what they claim. if u find nothing concrete then chances are, they're not doing much.
as for la casera.. my brother, if apple juice worked, theres no reason to discriminate against the citrus "race" is there??

Azazel said...

Lmao hahahhahahahah El Divine nice one o..
So true there really is no reason to discriminate against the citrus race lol

So you aren't a christian? OR are you now accusing the disciples at the last supper of cannibalism?

Azazel said...

Yes Edj it is cannibalism lol

Neo said...

r u disclaiming ur school now? u said u went to Faith Acad now. All i know is that most peeps who went to Faith acad or covenant uni say they've had enuff "church" to last a lifetime...lol

Anonymous said...

@ EDJ, *sigh* Yes i will identify myself as a christian (Baptist), and No, i am not not accusing the disiples of cannibalism.

Why do you continue to misconstrue my comments so? Is eating (human) flesh and drinking (human)blood not symbolic of cannibalism?

I understand that Catholics and Christians at large believe that the breaking of bread and drinking of wine represent the body and blood of Jesus. But carrying on with this practice is pretty freaky to me because i fail to understand why they have decided to keep 'breaking bread' and 'drinking blood'. Did Jesus instruct them to do so? Aside from that, it was like a farewell 'party' for Jesus whilst he was still on earth in human form, but now that he has died and fulfilled the gospel, why are we still breaking bread(flesh) and drinking wine (blood)?
Do we have multiple burial ceremonies for a dead man? Or multiple baby and bridal showers for an expectant mother and wife to be after they have had their baby or gotten married? No, we move on from there and celebrate the child's birthdays and mark wedding anniverssaries. That is why the gathering was aptly titled 'the last supper' (it was meant to be his last supper. we don't have to keep replicating it in church)- he gave it to his disciples (that were present at the time) in remembrance of Him because he knew he was going to die.

So why do we insist on eating his flesh and drinking his blood even after he has died for our sins? This practice is made even worse by the fact that its practitioners were not present when this farewell party occured. It is time for us to move on and just celebrate His birthday (christmas) and the anniversary of his death (easter). Enough of eating his flesh (bread) and drinking his blood (wine or apple juice, lol!)

This is were babalawos and juju men got their ideas from. lol!

Azazel said...

Lmao neo I feel it. But I did not go there lol.
Anonymous u definitely made sense with ur comment and u are right. That was why it was termed the last supper. It really is a stupid tradition and the money spent on all that jazz could go to the Haitian victims/ needy

you are TOTALLY off point with that remark cos NEVER in the bible is it stated that communion is for CATHOLICS only. let's just get that clear. it's just like saying Christ is for only one rparticular denomination. you need to know wat u're saying before you say it.

since u're Laughing Out Loud at the end of ur comment, i believe all u wrote is just to make us laugh but if u're serious then u need to check the foundation of ur christianity or what you believe in. you should be able to make researches and study your bible well before you say stuffs. it was actually called the passover and the last supper came in cos that was Christ's last meal with his disciples before his death. and YES hChrist instructed us to keep doing it until HIS coming. He even instructed us on how to prepare before taking the communion. Read your 1st Corinthians Chapter 11 very well then maybe u'll stop referring to it as cannibalism.

Ist Corinthians 11 was not christ instruction..
To the best of my knowledge Christ was not alive then..

Beautiful said...

Hallo Azazel, emm....i currently use the KJV bible where Christ's words alone are printed in RED, yeah...and it's stated clearly that Christ said we should do it in rememberance of Him. I also checked another bible version that doesn't highlight verses in colours but it's stated clearly there also. i think you need to crosscheck again, with emphasis on verse 25...

Azazel said...

Beautiful
I read that whole chapter because of you, again it does not say anything about Holy communion..

Beautiful said...

Haba nah Azazel, wat does breaking of bread and sharing wine mean?ok lemme write out only verse 25,maybe one of us is getting sometin wrong...
1st cor 11:25 - "After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in rememberance of me"
isn't that what ur verse also says?

Azazel said...

Beautiful
Ha I am sorry lol, i didn't read the whole verse through..
But to counter that, Jesus himself when he had the oppurtunity to tell us to remember him everyday never told his disciples to remember him with Holy Communion.
Mr Paul comes along and says 'God/Jesus' told him that it would be so.

Beautiful said...

Dear Azazel...i understand what u're trying to say but in my previous comment, the line i made bold was actually said by Christ, wat other directive do u need? he's said it clearly that as often as we do it, we do it in rememberance of him so whether u choose to do it every minute,day,hour,week,month,year,bi-annual,perennial etc just depends on u as long as u do it often and it's in rememberance of Christ capishe. haaaa *lovely sigh*, actually enjoyed this...
